A FEW TERMS NOT ALWAYS CONSIDERED TO BE ‘MAINSTREAM’, AND HOW WE USE THEM

  • Higher purpose An authentic, overriding reason for the existence of the organisation, that steers the discovery of meaning, satisfying experiences and engagement by employees. Is attractive to customers and all who are external to the organisation
  • Non-dualistic mind The practice and discipline of seeing the bigger picture, not jumping to either/or, right/wrong – but seriously contemplating and/ both in all circumstances
  • Projects as incubators The deliberate leveraging of projects to add another dynamic: influencing the wider organisational culture and way of operating (especially that of a benevolent, serving leadership)
  • Spirituality A non-religious approach characterised by appreciating deep and wide connectivity, operating outside-in and inside-out, and care and compassion for others, society, the environment and sustainable economic practices (while balancing the need for business continuity and profit)
  • Virtues in business The translation of well-chosen values that arise out of higher purpose, are embedded as character virtues throughout the organisation, are supported by clear behaviour indicators, and enable the organisation to ‘walk the talk’ and enhance/ maintain its reputation
